Heirloom Update-Camden County Seed Orders (by zip code)

Please help us know what to grow for you this year. You are not committing to purchasing now, this process will help us to identify what you would like to grow.

We grow these seedlings at our greenhouse. Some of these seeds are planted directly outside and are listed as "seed only." Early seedlings/seeds may be picked up at our location during our St. Patrick's Day potato planting party and we will notify you of different opportunities to buy your seeds/seedlings from us.

If you're interested in purchasing your seedlings/seeds from us this year:

1. Copy and paste these charts into an e-mail or e-mail them as an attachment with the number of seedlings/seeds that you are tentatively interested in. We will e-mail you back a price quote, and grow more of your selections. Each seedling is $2-$4 depending on the size.

2. Also, if the list is missing a variety that you would like to grow please feel free to add it to the list in your e-mail to andreaferich@gmail.com, and more than likely we'll grow it for the seedling sales from April- July.

3. Title the e-mail "SEED ORDER- your organization" ex: " Seed Order- Morgan Middle School."

			Isis Isis Candy Cherry (Indeterminate) 67 days Delightful round one-inch fruits may vary in shades and blush patterns of reds to yellows, usually with golden flesh. Typically carry an intriguing "cat's eye" or star in yellow on the blossom end. The flavor is outstanding, sweet and fruity. Kids adore them! Aunt Ruby's German Cherry 78 days-Here is a wonderfully cute, flavorful and unique green cherry tomato that was selected from the renown "Aunt Ruby's German Green". The 1-2 oz. fruit are shaped like little beefsteak tomatoes and have the full-sized tomato flavor packed into these bite-sized snacks.. Rare and colorful. Fox Cherry 80 days. Delicious large, red heirloom cherry tomatoes that seem to be one of the best-tasting large cherries around. The vining plants are very reliable; even in years when the wilt kills about everything else these seem to do great. The fruit weigh about 1 oz each and are perfect for salads. Riesentraube 76-85 days. This old German heirloom was offered in Philadelphia by the mid-1800's. The sweet red 1 oz fruit grow in large clusters and the name means "Giant Bunch of Grapes" in German. Large plants produce massive yields. Bicolor Cherry 70 days. Flavorful, very juicy, 1oz fruit are a beautiful yellow-and pink-blushed bicolor! So yummy tasting, being incredibly sweet and fruity. Vines are quite productive. This is a great variety for home and market growers who love beauty and taste. Heirloom seeds have been passed down from generation to generation. They have never been genetically engineered or hybridized. These seeds can be saved, and they are not patented or owned by seed companies such as Monsanto. Heirloom vegetables are generally thought to taste better, they are the taste of grandma’s kitchen. Growing heirlooms help with food security, saved as acts of peacemaking . These seeds are the beginning of our own Waterfront South seed bank. At Eve’s Garden. All the seedlings that we grow at Eve’s Garden are from heirloom seeds. Most heirlooms are indeterminate, meaning they keep growing and producing until the frost hits. Brandywine 80 days. The most popular heirloom vegetable! A favorite of many gardeners, large fruit with superb flavor. A great potato-leafed variety from 1885! Beautiful pink fruit up to 1-1/2 lbs. each! Big Month We received this from an Amish market grower, it produces 4-oz oblong roma-type fruit, good firm texture, tasty and sweet, good fresh or canned. The plants have some drought tolerance and produce a heavy yield that tends to ripen all at once; it will be a big month for canning once these start to ripen! Mortgage Lifter 85 days. Large, smooth, 1 lb. pink fruit have a delicious, rich, sweet taste. This variety has become very popular in recent years, and was developed by M.C. Byles of Logan, West Virginia. He introduced this beauty that he named Mortgage Lifter in the 1940’s after he sold plants for $1 each and paid off the $6,000 mortgage on his house. Yellow Ruffled Slicing Tomatoes

Here are the spices for the zesty italian salad dressing.

December Harvest: bokchoy/ brassica/lettuce sprouts grown from saved heirloom seeds (from the fall). Bath tubs become great planters. Be sure to fill up the bottom of the bathtub with rocks or stones, after you have cleaned it out.

The old drain in the bathtub can fairly easily become a hook-up valve for a compost tea or tilapia/fish emulsion containment hook-up. These young fresh salad greens are grown using zero resources, at least going back to when the bathtub was put inside the house.

Wash the vegetables:

Even though Organic principles are the only way to garden with children (or very very responsibly close to the definition of "organic") you should still be certain to WASH ALL YOUR VEGETABLES.

There are infinite possibilities of yummy homemade dressing. The dressing we made today is olive oil and rice vinegar based. We doubled the following recipe below and there is enough dressing for 3 months.
